Andrew Huntley-Robertson grew up in Rhode Island on the shores of Narragansett Bay. In 1985 he received a degree in Art History/Studio Art from Bucknell University. Andrew moved to New York City after college and spent 15 years studying oil painting part time at the Art Students League. Instructors Barbara Adrian and Peter Homitsky had a particularly beneficial influence on his work at the League. In 2000 Andrew moved to Summit, NJ where he continues to paint in oils in his home studio. Andrew focuses with special intensity on the patterns that nature creates through waters reflection, through the movement of waves and the formation of clouds, and through the effects of light. He favors large canvases to accentuate the beauty of water and sky and their dramatic intersection. Over the past few years Barnegat Bay and the New Jersey Shore have provided inspiration for his work. He has painted a number of scenes around the Bay Head Yacht Club and near the Matoloking Bridge, as well as the coastline that connects Bay Head, Mantoloking and Normandy Beach. Andrew's work can be seen at the Anchor & Palette Gallery in Bay Head, NJ, Frederick Galleries in Spring Lake, NJ, and The Muddy Boot in Summit, NJ. His work is also available by commission. 2008 Anchor & Palette Gallery Annual Oil and Acrylic Painting Show - 1st Place |
